I cannot imagine how my life would look like without the ocean. For me, the sea is the big playground of Mother Nature, a place where I can relax after a busy day at work or where I can go surfing, sailing or diving. Underwater photography became therefore a big part of my life. Quite often I dive in the waters of the Dutch Delta together with my camera to float between the fish, lobsters and all other beautiful marine life. Many people ask me what makes these waters so special, because they believe it is all turbid and there is not much to see. If I then show them my photographs, they are amazed by the diversity of different animals and colours. I believe it is a good thing to make people aware of our beautiful under water life to protect and conserve it for future generations. You don’t always have to go abroad or travel around the world to find it, it is also present here in the turbid waters of the Dutch Delta!

The last three years I’ve been working on my biggest project: the biggest Dutch nature documentary yet, WAD from film maker Ruben Smit. The documentary is about the Dutch Wadden Sea area, which is an UNESCO world heritage site. It was my task to film the underwater environment and all its inhabitants and their behaviour. WAD can be seen in the Dutch cinemas from the 4th of October 2018. A part of this project was our education project for elementary schools, check it out here. wereldwad.nl
Get into contact when you are looking for a specific photograph to illustrate a story, article or for a cover photo. Each story or article becomes much stronger with related photos. If you cannot find the photo you are looking for, don’t hesitate to ask me more about it. After quite some years I have collected a large archive with thousands of photographs. Also, there is always a possibility that I can make the photo you are looking for.
A lot of my work has already illustrated stories and articles in magazines and media like NOS, Jinek, WWF, Visionair, Resource of Wageningen University, Duiken magazine, Flow magazine, Hippocampus, Beet, Het visblad, Onderwatersport, local newspapers like De Faam, De Vlissingse Bode and The PZC and various websites like Feedandtreat.eu, Fitfish.eu, IMARES Wageningen UR and Duikplaats.net
